| Camping in the Whitsundays
Having an island all to yourself is one of those things you may dream of, but now it can be possible with the help of Island Camping Connections. This company can arrange to take you to a National Parks and Wildlife camp site, some of which are on uninhabited islands and others, which are in secluded spots on inhabited islands. You can sit on your own beach and take in one of the magical sunsets, go for bushwalks, swim in the turquoise water, and go snorkelling. Island Camping Connections offers a full service to campers. They'll transfer you to your island home in their specially designed six-metre boat, which can virtually drop you on the beach. There are 21 camp sites to choose from around the Whitsundays, including those at North Molle, South Molle, Planton and Denman Islands. On any of the islands you can pitch your tent before checking out the corals in the shallows close to the islands. You can also go fishing or just enjoy a gorgeous stretches of beach that is all yours. As the sun sets, you can start to prepare dinner on the beach. Sandy Bay is on South Molle Island and is a 90-minute walk from the Island's Resort. This camp site has a maximum of 12. One of the larger camp sites is Cockatoo Beach which allows for 50 campers. It's on North Molle and can only be accessed at high tide. Island Camping Connection can provide you with
all your gear, from tents to sleeping rolls, eskies, gas cookers, even
fresh water (which you'll need, as most sites don't have any) and
snorkelling gear. All campers must have a camping permit from the
National Parks and Wildlife Service. The permits cost $3.50 per person
per night with a family rate of $14 a night. Essential Facts Further Information:
