Moreton Bay Bugs
A local delicacy

Moreton bay bugs grow to a length
of 28cm and over 0.5kg. They are reddish-brown in colour with speckling
and have dull yellowish tails. This species can be distinguished from
the Balmain bug by the position of its eyes, which are located at the
outer edge of the carapace.
The Moreton Bay Bug is great eating.
It is sometimes called Bay Lobster, which definitely sounds more
delicious than a bay bug.
