South Australia, the driest state in the driest continent in the world. 
A region of rocky plains and desert landscape broken by the fertile wine-growing Barossa Valley.  The countryside ranges from the beach resorts of the Adelaide suburbs to the vast expanses of isolated, semi-desert Outback, from the craggy mountains of Flinders Ranges to the meandering Murray River. Offshore is the popular Kangaroo Island. 

South Australia is a State of contrasts - rugged outback wilderness, scenic mountain ranges, an extensive coastline, offshore islands and a large, meandering river. Adelaide is a convenient base for touring regions such as the Barossa Valley and Southern Vales wine areas, the southern beaches and the tranquil Adelaide Hills. The Adelaide Festival Centre is South Australia's major performing arts venue and is the focal point for the biennial Adelaide  The State has a unique and well-preserved heritage. Major historical themes include the German settlement of the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills; the Cornish and Welsh settlement of the mining towns of Moonta, Burra and Willunga; and the maritime history of

ADELAIDE
South of Adelaide we find Victor Harbour, South Australia's first tourism destination. Not far from there you also can catch the ferry to Kangaroo Island.

Towards the inland, about 30km (18 miles) South East of Adelaide is Hahndorf.
Hahndorf has he oldest surviving German settlement in Australia.
The town has many old German-style buildings, and much of the craft and local food has German influences,

Climate and Weather
South Australia has a Mediterranean climate characterised by hot, dry summers with relatively mild nights and cool winters, with the most of the rainfall occurring during May to August. 
South Australia is however the the driest of the Australian states and territories and 80 percent of the state receives less than 250mm of rain per year.
